An ARISS contact is scheduled for this Tuesday, October 5th with students from the Prescott Unified School District in Dewey, AZ. The contact will be a multipoint telebridge contact hosted by Fred, AB1OC. The astronaut is Mark Vande Hei, amateur radio call sign KG5GNP.
The pre-contact program will begin around 1:50 pm local time and the ISS will come over the horizon at about 2:08 pm local time. Thanks for the heads-up. This was the first time I had tried to receive a signal from the ISS. I was surprised by how well my omni-directional vertical base antenna worked. I had solid reception for about 9 minutes. I had assumed I would need to point some sort of directional antenna up at the ISS.

Glad that you were able to listen to the downlink from the ISS during the contact today. Students were able to ask 21 questions and receive answers from astronaut Marc Vande Hei KG5GNP on the ISS. These are always amazing experiences.
