Those of us who have been involved in teaching the amateur radio licensing classes may remember the section on spread spectrum/frequency hopping radio which actress Heddy Lamar helped to invent. (Now I don’t recall if that is on the General or the Extra section). I just came across this movie about Heddy Lamar on Netflix which is supposed to center on her “inventing” less than on her entertainment career. Something to do on a boring evening (although I have not seen it yet myself—I’ve been watching Ken Burns’ Baseball!)
