Adding speical event call sign to FT8

Ugh! Been struggling with this for a while.  Wanted to participate in the Fire Prevention Week special event. Fellow ham Mike Fandell Is handling Region 1.  I thought I would do some FT8 contacts, and setting up the app is driving me crazy.

While I can blunder about my computer on simple stuff, I would appreciate something very explicit. Most of the instructions that I have seen in print and video assume that I have more computer skills than I do.  I see I probably have to set up another COM designation. I may have done this a few years ago, but lack of use dulls the memory.

Any help appreciated. Event starts at 1200 on Sunday.

Hi Tom,

I’m not sure that I completely understand the problem that you are trying to solve. Are you trying to use a special call sign as your to make FT8 contacts? Can just change your current callsign in the FT8 setup area where you current AB1NS callsign is set to the one for the special event? I do this all the time when I operate as N1FD. When I am done, I just change the callsign back to mine.

Ach!  I did that by “accident” yesterday and did not consider it a solution, so I went back to AB1NS.
