Minutes from the April 24th Executive
Board meeting and the April 3rd and May 1st Club Meetings

April 3rd Club meeting

At 7:04 PM the meeting was called to order by President Don, K1EER; followed by introductions. Neil, N1DMA, introduced Rob Macedo, KD1CY, for a presentation on Skywarn for the southern New Hampshire, eastern Massachusetts areas.

A motion was and approved to accept the Secretary’s report as printed.

Treasurer, Mark, N1ZYZ, reported that the April club balance was $3,117.34 and that the we have under spent by $322.42 due to the lack of coax and T-shirt purchases. For the first quarter of the year the club was $230.58 under budget. A motion was made and approved to accept the treasurer report.

Membership coordinator Dave, N1SUE, reported that the current club roster stood at 188 members in good standing.

Colleen, N1HAJ, Activities Director, announced that a trip to the Marconi Museum on May 6th was planned. On the T-shirt front, samples have been ordered and should be available for the next meeting. Training, Spi, K1CWZ, indicated two members have volunteered to teach the September class but more volunteers are needed. Volunteers to teach and interested students are to contact Spi, K1CWZ.

Programs Director, Neil, N1DMA, announced that for the May meeting he would be presenting a program on digital communication in the shack with an emphasis on PSK-31. The June and July meetings will be devoted to Field Day preparation and wrap-up. Looking towards the fall another ‘Stump the Exports Night’ is planned and a possible auction as well.

Old Business: After discussions it was decided to buy 500’ of Belden coax from HRO at $0.55 a foot.

Don, K1EER, read a card received from Evelyn Muzzy expressing how much Buzz, KA1OMJ, enjoyed hosting Field Day.

Field Day: A discussion was held which focused on what type of participation we would do this year. Opinions were expressed that the safety needed to be the first priority and that the lack of tear down help needs to be a driving force into the stations that are assembled.

At 8:35pm a motion was made to adjourned which was promptly seconded.

April 24th Bored meeting

Attending the meeting at Colleen Gaffey’s house were Spi, K1CWZ, Dave, KW1DX, Neil, N1DMA, Colleen, N1HAJ, Mark, N1ZYZ, and Fletch , N1MEO.

The meeting was called to order at 7:00pm by Vice President Spi, K1CWZ.

Secretary, Dave KW1DX, reported that the April meeting report would be published in the June bulletin.

Treasurer, Mark N1ZYZ reported the club is $525.96 under budget. Purchases for coax and connectors, $292.50 from HRO, and half the T-shirt budget has been spent. Other expenses included $75.22 discretionary for flowers and cards. Mark is looking into the club’s insurance to possibly increase the liability amount for Field Day.

Field Day: Neil, N1DMA, reported he received a letter from the Hollis/Brookline school allowing the club to restrict access to the school grounds as necessary. Fletch, N1MEO, reported $168.00 spent for portable rest rooms. It was also voted that Field Day 2000 would be dedicated to Buzz.

New Business: Property is now handled by Mark, N1ZYZ. Awards/QSL management will be handled by Dave, KW1DX

The meeting adjourned about 7:55pm.

May 1st Club meeting

At 7:00 PM the meeting was called to order by President Don, K1EER followed by introductions. Neil, N1DMA, introduced himself for a demonstration of PSK31 and the use of the computer in the shack.

Don, K1EER, thanked Jim, WW1Y, for the paperwork exam session on April 15th which processed 83 upgrades after the FCC restructure. Jim announced an exam session to be held May 13th at Hosstraders.

Acceptance of the prior months minutes was postponed until the June meeting.

Treasurer, Mark, N1ZYZ, reported that the club maintained a May balance of $2,530.30. Recent expenditures included insurance, coax and ½ budgeted tee-shirt money. A motion was made, seconded and approved to accept the treasurer report.

Membership coordinator Dave, N1SUE, reported 179 members in good standing.

Activities Director,, Colleen, N1HAJ, announced a trip to the Marconi Museum on Saturday May 6th was still on. People to meet at the museum at 10:00 AM. T-shirts were modeled by N1ZYZ, a denim style long sleeve and polo shirt will be available.

Training, Spi, K1CWZ, indicated that he is still looking for 1 or 2 members to help teach the September Technician class. interested teachers/students should contact Spi, K1CWZ.

Programs Director, Neil, N1DMA, announced that the June and July meetings will be devoted to Field Day.

Old Business: Jack, WB4MDC, announced that he has completed cutting the coax to length and attaching the ends.

Field Day: Currently at 5A, still need people for tear-down on Sunday. Tower school to be held at Sterling, AK1K’s, house.

New Business: Marc, KB1DFE, reminded the club that there will be SKYWARN training May 17th from 7:00pm to 10:00pm at the Milford High School.

At 8:06 PM a motion was made to adjourned which was promptly second.
