Send a QSL card

And since you're now in a writing mood, send a QSL card to your congressman in support of HR 783. In case you're unaware, House Resolution 783 is the Amateur Radio Spectrum Protection Act of 1999. There was an article in May '99 QST about it (pg. 16). The act would require that if any amateur spectrum is taken away, equivalent spectrum would be given to us in another location. Those who remember losing half of 220 MHz, know how important this is.

While a letter (similar to the May QST sample) is great, a QSL card is quick easy and eye-catching. For every piece of mail your congressman gets, they assume there are 100 more who feel the same way but don't write. Currently none of New Hampshire's representatives have signed on.

If your zip code is 03031, 03033, 03047- 03049, 03051, 03052, 03055, 03057, 03060- 03063, 03070, 03071, 03086, or 03087 your representative is

The Honorable Charles F. Bass
218 Cannon House Office Building
Washington, DC 20515-2902

If your zip code is 03038, 03053, 03054, 03104, 03106, 03108, 03110, 03841, or 03862 your representative is
The Honorable John E. Sununu
316 Cannon House Office Building
Washington, DC 20515

If you're zip code isn’t listed above, go to http://www.house.gov/writerep/ and enter your Zipcode to find your representative.

Just take a QSL, address it to your representative, and tell him you want him to co-sponsor HR 783 and mail it. Put a 1st class stamp on it. Do not use the Bureau. :-)

If all club members send a card you can be sure our representatives will get on board.
