SAR Training

A special invitation from the Nashoba Valley Amateur Radio Club to their April 15th meeting. ALL ARE WELCOME!

On April 15th Ranger Curt Rudge from the Massachusetts Bureau of Ranger Services will be presenting on Search and Rescue.

Background: The Bureau of Ranger Services comes under the Division of Forests and Parks of the Department of Environmental Management. Their web page says, “The Bureau of Ranger Services is responsible for managing lost person incidents, searching for lost, missing, or overdue persons on DEM lands, and can be called to assist in searches on other lands.” See http://www.state.ma.us/dem/programs/ranger/programs.htm#sar

Ranger Rudge will present on what it takes to organize a search and rescue operation. In addition he will bring information on training and brochures from the Central Mass Search and Rescue group. This combination will give you an idea of what goes on during a search, how to you might get involved with a SAR group, and what training they receive. If you are thinking about forming a group, finding a group to participate with, or just want to know more about SAR this presentation should help.

The NVARC meetings are held at the Pepperell Community Center at the junction (rotary) of Route 111 and Route 113 in Pepperell, Ma.
