On a motion by George, WA1DEI seconded by Jack, WB4MDC, the secretary’s report as published was accepted as published.
Treasurer George, WA1DEI, reported the club balance stood at $3,193.14. On a motion by Don, KA1GOZ, seconded by Ed, K2TE, the treasurer’s report was accepted as presented.
Membership coordinator Tracy, N1WIR, reported membership was an estimated 158 members in good standing.
Under activities, Ed, K2TE, reported the planned visit to the MIT Lincoln Laboratories Haystack Observatory in Westford/Tyngsborough, MA., Oct. 8 was successful. The club Christmas Party is set for Dec. 5 at the Horse Pond Fish and Game Club. Tickets are available from bored or directors members at $7 per person. It is a pot luck supper.
Bob, KD1AW, president of vice and training coordinator, reported the novice/tech class was underway. The CW net may be dropped for lack of participation. He noted the plan to develop “tutors” or “Elmers” for potential
Programs coordinator Jack, WB4MDC, announced the program for the November club meeting arranged by Gary, W1GRY, will feature Ray, WF1B, RTTY contester and expert. In December there will be annual elections as well as “Awards Night.” January is “Project Night,” and in February, Jim, N1NH, will present a program on “(NTS) traffic handling.” April will be magazine editor John Dorr.
In the area of ARES/RACES, Don, KA1GOZ, EC for E-Hills, reported that a state-wide Simulated Emergency Test was conducted Oct. 24 with participation primarily involving a VHF tactical net and packet to NHOEM.
Under old business, the 1999 annual budget was given its final reading. On a motion by Jack, WB4MDC, seconded by Bob, KD1AW, costs of QSL cards for Field Day will be included within the Field Day portion of the budget. The motion carried.
Under new business, president Mike, K7CTW, requested funds for John, WS1E, to cover club QSL expenses with the W1 QSL Bureau. On a motion by Bob, KD1AW, seconded by Tracy, N1WIR, the motion carried. Mike also asked for funds for John, WS1E, to cover reimbursement for QSL cards and postage. On a motion by Bob, KD1AW, seconded by George, WA1DEI, funds will be taken from the discretionary funds for QSL expenses for 1998. The motion carried.
On a motion by Tracy, N1WIR, seconded by Jack, WB4MDC, the meeting was adjourned.
Following introductions by those present, Program coordinator Jack, WB4MDC, introduced Gary, W1GRY, who introduced Ray, WB1F. Ray presented a program on two RTTY DXpeditions he was recently on in Africa and Aruba.
At the conclusion of the program, president Mike, K7CTW, opened the business portion of the meeting.
Secretary Don, KA1GOZ, reported there was no correspondence. On a motion by Colleen, N1HAJ, seconded by Mark, N1ZYZ, the secretary’s report was accepted as published.
Secretary Don noted that the Special Service Club renewal had been done electronically through the Internet.
Treasurer George, WA1DEI, reported the club balance stood at $3,279.15 and he outlined the status of the current budget. On a motion by Mark,N1ZYZ, seconded by Ken, the treasurer’s report was accepted as presented.
Membership coordinator Tracy, N1WIR, reported club membership stood at 156 members in good standing.
Under activities, Ed, K2TE, noted that the visit to Haystack Observatory went well and thanked Stu, N1STY, for arranging it and Jack, WB4MDC, for coordinating. Ed also noted the club Christmas Party was set for Dec. 5 and tickets were $7 per person, children half price, available from bored members or at the door.
Training coordinator and president of vice Bob, KD1AW, noted the novice/technician class was about half way through with Wayne, W1QC as instructor. He reported the CW net was failing and suggested putting it under the GOTAP program. He also noted the Elmer program was underway and those who need help of any kind should contact him to arrange for an Elmer.
Jack, WB4MDC, program coordinator, reported that December is Awards Night and January is Project Night, January is Project Night and February will be Jim, N1NH who will present a program on traffic handling.

Mark, N1ZYZ, GOTAP coordinator reported that he had received a new list of hams to contact and a CW net was running Tuesday and Thursday evenings on or about 28.360.
Under old business, Mark, N1ZYZ, presented the slate of officer proposed for next month’s election. They include Mike, K7CTW, president; Ed, K2TE, president of vice; Mark, N1ZYZ, treasurer; Tracy, N1WIR, and Joy, N1ZBM, membership; Chris, K1SI, secretary; Gary, W1GRY, programs; Ken, Activities.
There were no additional nominations from the floor and on a motion by John, WS1E, seconded by Al, W1JOF, nominations were closed.
Treasurer George, WA1DEI, presented the proposed 1999 budget, as amended, to the membership. On a motion by Chris, K1SI, seconded by Mark, N1ZYZ, the 1999 budget was accepted as published. (Editor’s note: The initial budget was published in the November Bulletin. As of press time, no amendments were received.)
Under new business, Mary Jane, WA4WIJ, displayed the design for the new club Field Day T-shirt.
