The secretary’s report was amended to correct the spelling of the name “Zack Lau” and callsign, KM4NZ. On a motion by Bob, KD1AW, seconded by Tracy, N1WIR, the secretary’s report was accepted as amended.
Treasurer George, WA1DEI, reported the club balance stood at $3,339.04. On a motion by Don, KA1GOZ, seconded by Jack, WB4MDC, the treasurer’s report was accepted as presented.
Membership coordinator Tracy, N1WIR, reported membership stood at 160 members in good standing.
Under activities, Ed, K2TE, reported the planned visit to the MIT Lincoln Laboratories Haystack Observatory in Westford/Tyngsborough, MA., was scheduled for Oct. 8 at 6:30 p.m. It is the observatory’s open house as well. The Christmas Party is set for Dec. 5 at the Horse Pond Fish and Game Club. Tickets will be available from bored or directors members at $7 per person. It is a pot luck supper.
Bob, KD1AW, president of vice and training coordinator, reported the novice/tech class was underway. The proposed plan to develop “tutors” for potential license upgrade candidates is not complete.
Programs coordinator Jack, WB4MDC, announced the program for the October club meeting would be “Stump the Ex-Spurts”, a panel of “expert” club members, some of whom are on the Technical Resources Committee, would address questions from club members. The November program, arranged by Gary, W1GRY, will feature Ray, WF1B, RTTY contester and expert. In December there will be annual elections as well as “Awards Night.” January is “Project Night,” and in February, Jim, N1NH, will present a program on NTS traffic handling.
In the area of ARES/RACES, Don, KA1GOZ, EC for E-Hills, reported that a state-wide Simulated Emergency Test was being planned for Oct. 24, but details were not available.
Under old business, Fletch N1MEO, reported that the search for a new Field Day site was continuing. It appeared that the current site in Hollis might be available for one more year. Don, KA1GOZ, reported he was attempting to contact the Nashua Superintendent of Parks and Recreation about the use of several park locations as new Field Day sites.
Under new business, treasurer George, WA1DEI, outlined his proposed 1999 budget which will be presented at the October club meeting for member review and input, with final approval slated for the November meeting.
On a motion by Bob, KD1AW, seconded by George, WA1DEI, the meeting adjourned.
At the conclusion of the program, president Mike, K7CTW, opened the business portion of the meeting. Secretary Don, KA1GOZ, reported there was correspondence from Amateur Radio Callbook announcing the new CD-ROM version was available to club members at a discount in volume. He also reported receipt of the notice for renewal of the club’s ARRL Special Service Club status. On a motion by Henry, K1CII, seconded by Mark, N1ZYZ, the secretary’s report was accepted as published.

Under activities, in the absence of Ed, K2TE, president Mike noted that the visit to Haystack Observatory was scheduled for Oct. 8 at 6:30 p.m. through the good graces of Stu, N1STY. He also noted the club Christmas Party was set for Dec. 5 and tickets were $7 per person, children half price. Training coordinator and president of vice Bob, KD1AW, noted the novice/technician class was under way with Wayne, W1QC.

Under ARES/RACES, Don, KA1GOZ, announced that Marc, KB1DFE has volunteered to help out as net control of the Tuesday night ARES net. A state-wide Simulated Emergency Test, utilizing packet and APRS is being planned for Oct. 24.
Mark, N1ZYZ, GOTAP coordinator reported that the NEDIV of the ARRL was planning to continue the GOTAP program. He said he was interested in developing the training opportunities offered by HRO for the club’s GOTAP program as well.
Under new business, treasurer George, WA1DEI, presented the proposed 1999 budget to the membership. He will make adjustments in some areas and it will be published in the November bulletin, prior to coming to the membership for final discussion & vote at the November meeting.
In other new business, Don, KA1GOZ, reported that he had been successful in obtaining tentative approval for the use of part of the Yudicky Farm Sports Complex as a Field Day site next year from the Nashua Superintendent of Park. A formal letter requesting approval of the club’s use of the park land will be required, however.
In other new business, president Mike again stressed the need for new volunteers to fill the various vacancies which will be open on the club board of directors.
