New Field Day Sites

It appears as if the Nashua Area Radio Club may have located at least one if not more new sites for Field Day in 1999.

The field day site location committee has obtained tentative approval for the use of part of the City of Nashua’s Yudicky Farm Sports Complex for Field Day next year. There are several other possible Nashua park sites that may also be considered.

The club has received the support of Assistant Fire Chief Michael Buxton, the city’s Emergency Preparedness Director, in its efforts to locate a new Field Day site. The sports complex, located at the intersection of Main Dunstable Road (Route 111A) and Groton Road in Nashua, near the Nashua-Hollis town line, is a large parcel of land, most of which has been undeveloped. Currently there are several ball fields within the complex which are in various stages of development. Superintendent of Parks and Recreation Frank Dorsey, has given tentative approval for the use of the complex or other suitable Nashua park facilities for the radio club’s Field Day operation in 1999. A written request for use of the facilities, however, is required before final approval will be granted, Dorsey said.

Before a decision on which potential Field Day sites to consider is made, a survey of those possible sites must be conducted to determine whether the site is adequate for the Field Day requirements.
