Minutes from the July 27th Executive
Board meeting and the August 3rd Club Meeting

July 27th Bored meeting

President Mike opened the July meeting of the Bored of Directors of the Nashua Area Radio Club at 7:32 PM.

On a motion by Bob, KD1AW, seconded by Jack, WB4MDC, the minutes of the previous meeting were accepted as published in the bulletin. The motion carried.

Membership coordinator Tracy, N1WIR, reported the membership stood at 155 in good standing.

Ed, K2TE, activities coordinator, reported the visit to the Marconi Museum went well. He is arranging for a tour of the New Boston Air Force Station in September.

President Mike tasked Ed with developing a nominating committee in preparation for the December elections.

Treasurer George, WA1DEI, reported a club balance of $3,507.77. On a motion by Jack, WB4MDC, seconded by Tracy, N1WIR, the report was accepted as presented.

President of vice and training coordinator Bob, KD1AW, reported a novice-technician class is being planned for the fall. Also, the 10 meter CW training net is up and running.

Jack, WB4MDC, program coordinator, reported the August program will be microwaves and mountain topping presented by Paul Wade, W1GHZ. The September program is open and ideas are being solicited. In October, the Technical Resources Committee will conduct a panel discussion. November’s program is also open at this time.

Bob, KD1AW, reported that all of the field day material stored at the Muzzey “Hollis Hilton” had been removed. That brought up discussion concerning club member equipment currently being stored in the club’s “Orange Crate” storage trailer. On a motion by Ed, seconded by Jack, those members with equipment on loan from field day being stored at the trailer if not claimed by Oct. 3, will become club property. The motion carried.

Ed, K2TE, reported there were a number of T-shirts from the 1997 Field Day remaining, and was dropping the price to $10.

On a motion by Tracy, N1WIR, seconded by George, WA1DEI, the meeting was adjourned.

August 3rd Club meeting

President Mike, K7CTW, opened the August meeting of the Nashua Area Radio Club with the Classie Junque drawing. Winners included: K2TE, N1ZYY, K8LT, KA1GOA, N1WIR, KA1SSR, N1ZBS, KW1DX, N1STY, KA1EB, KD1MD, W8KKU, W1JOF, KA1LDF, K7CTW, N1SUE and David Zaharee.

Paul Wade, W1GHZ, presented a program on mountain topping with microwaves.

On a motion by Mark, N1ZYZ, seconded by Pauline, KA1LDF, the minutes of the previous meeting were accepted as published in the bulletin. The motion carried.

Secretary Don, KA1GOZ, reported on correspondence from the Library Employees Union, and the letter was placed on file.

Treasurer George, WA1DEI, reported a club balance of $3,396.77, and reviewed the current status of the budget. On a motion by Tracy, N1WIR, seconded by Colleen, N1HAJ, the treasurer’s report was accepted as presented. The motion carried.

Membership coordinator Tracy, N1WIR, reported there were 155 club members in good standing.

Under activities, Ed, K2TE, activities coordinator, reported a successful tour of the Marconi Museum last month. He has set up a tour of the New Boston Air Force Station for Sept. 10 at 6:30 p.m., with further details to be published on the NARC re-mailer.

Bob, KD1AW, president of vice and training coordinator, reported the 10 meter CW net was continuing to operate. A novice- technician course is currently in the works for the fall.

Program coordinator Jack, WB4MDC, deferred to president Mike, K7CTW, for the September program. Mike will attempt to have someone from HRO discuss trends in ham radio.

Under ARES/RACES, Don, KA1GOZ, EC for Eastern Hillsborough County said he was looking for someone to help out as net control station for the weekly net, since he is not always available.

Under new business, president Mike, K7CTW, announced that any personal property owned by club members that is currently in the “Orange Crate” storage trailer must be removed prior to Oct. 3, unless other arrangements have been made.

He also noted that candidates are needed for the upcoming elections in December.

Colleen, N1HAJ, announced that the leftover food from Field Day was donated to the Nashua Soup Kitchen.

Jim, WW1Y, club VE coordinator, announced the next club-sponsored exam would be held Sept. 12, at the First Church of Nashua at 9 a.m.

On a motion by Mark, N1ZYZ, seconded by Jim, WW1Y, the meeting was adjourned.
