Words of Wisdom from Ed Deichler, K2TE

Here's the latest information regarding the Marconi Museum in Bedford. Ray, W1BC, will be giving a tour for NARC on July 11 at 4:00 PM. The tour will be followed by a “special edition” of NARC pizza at Shorty’s - just around the corner from the Museum.

Ray says the museum has a TS-820S and a Dentron amplifier they would like to have hooked up. They plan to run an indoor antenna temporarily until they get permission from the town to put up a tower. I’ve offered the club’s help in getting the station and the tower up when things are in place with the town. The station will be W1FGM - Fondazione Guglielmo Marconi, corresponding to IY4FGM in Bologna, Marconi’s summer home. They'll be special commemorative QSLs for working them.

Here is where things get REAL interesting. Marconi’s daughter, Princess Elettra, and her son, Guglielmo, will be attending the museum’s opening ceremonies on June 27! Ray was originally considering a tour for us on that day. I reminded him that it was Field Day and few of us would be able to attend. I invited him and his guests to come on out to the site after the ceremonies. Of course they should bring the photographers along.

And stay tuned for an upcoming Field trip to the New Boston Air Force Station.
