#1 to #1 means
“most improved”

Based in part on our “failure” to put as many transmitters on the air for Field Day 96 as we did for Field Day 95, coupled with our making more QSO’s then ever before, has resulted in NARC winning an even more prestigious award than taking first place nationwide in Field Day for the second year in a row. Yes, that’s right, we’ve won the coveted New Hampshire Section Manager’s award for “most improved”. For those who can’t recall, we were rated 11th in the state last year, despite taking 1st place overall. Al Shuman, N1FIK, won NARC’s prestigious 8-Ball award for that move.

The plaque pictured below is the one the club would have received if Al (who is a club member), actually knew the club’s name. However, through the miracle of computer editing, the Nashua Amateur Radio Club (whoever they are) loses out to the Nashua Area Radio Club.
