Minutes from the July 29th Executive
Board meeting and the August 5th Club Meeting

July 29th Bored

The July meeting of the Bored of Directors of the Nashua Area Radio Club was called to order by president John, WS1E at 19:15. Present were: John, WS1E; Fletch, N1MEO; Don, KA1GOZ; George, WA1DEI; and Henry, K1CII.

John discussed the club ARRL membership list obtained from the league through the auspices of Nancy, N1EOZ, former ACC. In conjunction with the list the Affiliated Club report and the Special Service Club application was also discussed.

John also discussed the planned request for a change in the club call. He said he had a list of the available unused calls as of June.

Don reported on prices for embroidered patches and coffee mugs for the club.

John reported on the New Division director’s cabinet meeting, noting that director of vice, Warren Rothberg, WB1HBB, had resigned effective 1 Aug. The division director may recommend to the ARRL bored the NARC member Don, KA1T, be appointed to fill the vacancy.

John also discussed the continuing saga of the low-orbiting earth satellites and their proposal to take over portions of the 2 meter and 70 cm ham bands. Don reported on section staff changes contained in a letter from Section Manager Al “Bunkie” Shuman.

Fletch reported on the training net, noting there currently was no net in operation.

Henry reported on the status of the Field Day site in Hollis. Don moved for adjournment with Henry providing the second. The meeting was adjourned at 21:23.

August 5th Club

The August meeting of the Nashua Area Radio Club began with the usual Classie Junque drawing. Among the winners were: Jack N1AVX, Joel, KD1LE and Ken, WA1DXO. Following introductions, a videotape was shown since the scheduled speaker was unable to attend due to his being on travel.

President John, WS1E, called the business portion of the meeting to order and reported on the resignation and departure of Warren Rothberg, WB1HBB, director of vice for the division. He also reported on the subsequent accident in which Warren’s wife, Donna, was involved.

John announced that NARC member, Don, KA1T, who had been recommended by the division director to fill the director of vice vacancy, had been approved by the ARRL board of directors.

John noted that state representative Thomas Kirby, who was very involved in legislative issues affecting amateur radio, had died.

John reported on the division director’s cabinet meeting and discussions about the threat to the 2 meter and 70 cm ham bands. He noted there were to be some sharing studies conducted and comments to the working groups should be sent not only by e-mail, but also by snail mail, two copies.

John called for the reading of the minutes of the last club meeting and bored of directors meeting. Don, KA1GOZ, moved the minutes of the meetings be approved as published in the bulletin. Pauline, KA1LDF, seconded. The motion carried.

Treasurer George, WA1DEI, reported the club treasury balance at the end of July was $2,009.58. Colleen, N1HAJ moved and Don, KA1T seconded a motion to accept the treasurer’s report as presented. The motion carried.

Membership coordinator, Henry, K1CII, reported there were 110 club members and 93 were ARRL members as well.

John, subbing for Joel, KD1ON, programs coordinator, announced the September program will probably be XR0Y expedition.

Fletch, N1MEO, president of vice and training coordinator had nothing to report.

Gene, WA1UXA, activities coordinator, was a no-show, again!

Several people moved and Don, KA1T seconded a motion to adjourn which carried.
