Jamboree-On-The-Air

Jamboree-on-the-Air is a Scouting Amateur Radio event sponsored by the World Organization of Scouting. Occurring yearly on the 3rd weekend in October. It is a International non-competitive ham radio event that is intended to introduce Scouts to ham radio as well as facilitate friendships among Scouts using HF & VHF/UHF radio.

ScoutRadio will be adding a matchmaking service for Scout Troops who are looking for ham radio stations & hams wanting to participate in Jamboree on the Air. This is a great opportunity for RACES, ARC, ARES, Red Cross Communications and other ham groups to promote amateur radio.

If you know of an interested Scouting Unit (Cub, Boy, GSA) have them send an email with the following:

  1. Unit number, City & State, Country
  2. Expected number of participants
If you are an Amateur Radio Club, Emergency Amateur Radio group, or individual Ham wanting to provide an HF station Send an email with the following:
  1. Name & email address.
  2. Callsign, City, State, Country
  3. Number of Scouts you can support
Scout Radio will post the lists as well as share their information with ARRL. Put them in you bookmark as a resource for Scouting and Amateur Radio.

Jim Mahoney, N1LBC is interested in linking up with interested hams in the Nashua area and see what could be arranged for Local Cub Scout Pack 253, and, based on interest, the many other Cub and Boy Scout units in the area. If you are interested and have free time in October to help get some young people excited about our hobby, contact Jim at JimMahoney@aol.com
