George, WA1DEI, and Fletch, N1MEO, moved to accept the secretary’s report as published in the May newsletter. The motion carried.
Treasurer George, WA1DEI, reported a club balance of 1,233.54. A motion was made by Don, KA1GOZ, seconded by Henry, K1CII, to accept the treasurer’s report as presented. The motion carried.
Henry reported on membership. There were 11 renewals and one new member.
Don, read correspondence from the ARRL contest manager concerning the certification of club members in the Affiliated Club Competition. It was proposed that a copy of the current club database be sent to the ARRL to determine league membership.
There was also correspondence from a former Nashua resident who had moved to Florida and wanted info on the No-Code Technician class. Info will be forwarded to the league for action.
A letter was received from Russ Santos concerning an editorial in the club newsletter in the matter of the replacement of the Section Traffic Manager. The letter was placed on file.
Fletch, reporting on training, announced that the no-code technician class that Mike, NE1V, was going to teach will be rescheduled due to a family illness.
Don and Henry moved to adjourn and the motion carried.
Following introductions, Chris, KA1SIE, of Ham Radio Outlet, presented a program on some of the newer rigs now available including an ICOM HF-2meter all-mode mobile rig and a YAESU dual-band, 2meter and 440 HT.
At the conclusion of the presentation, President John, WS1E, opened the meeting. He announced that New England Div. Director and former club president Bill Burden, who had been hospitalized following a heart attack was back in the hospital, but was expected to be back home shortly and begin rehabilitation.
There being no objections, president John, asked that the secretary’s report be accepted as published in the May newsletter.
Treasurer George, reported that the club balance was $1,233.54. Don, N1UBD, moved to accept the treasurer’s report as presented. The motion carried.
In the absence of the program coordinator, Joel, KD1ON, who was away on business, John noted that June was set for Field Day; July was to be Jack, WB4MDC, with hints and kinks; August was to be a speaker from Mitre Corp. who will discuss research and development of HF digital modes. September may be a DXpedition.
Fletch, president of vice, and training coordinator, noted he was again looking for instructors to possibly “team teach” a planned no-code technician course. The course had been rescheduled due to Mike, NE1V, having to back out due to a family illness.
President John addressed the rules for club contest entries that were noted in a letter to the club from ARRL Contest Manager concerning the requirement of a list of eligible club members.
It was noted that the FCC has finally opened the first gate for the issuance of so-called vanity callsigns. A motion by Don, KA1GOZ, seconded by Don, N1UBD, moved for the investigation of changing the club call. The motion carried.
Tony, N1VQP, moved that the club spend $30 to obtain a vanity callsign at the discretion of the bored of directors. Mary Jane, WA4WIJ, seconded. The motion carried.
Don, KA1GOZ, outlined the current status of the Olympic Torch Run which is set for June 14 in Nashua. Currently a command post and three aid stations will be manned with ham radio operators.
“Y”, as in WW1Y, Jim, noted that there was to be an exam session at the Rochester flea market May 11.
