Awards, Thrills, and Elections

Is your head still spinning from last month's meeting? I know mine still is. Dr. Dave Herrick, AB7Q talked about wideband HF techniques and a HF spread spectrum radio that can transmit data at 9600 baud with less than 10 errors per million bits. And "they" say CLOVER is the fastest HF digital transmission method! See the secretary's report (page 2) or the February 1995 issue of SIGNAL Magazine for more info about the CHESS radio. Thanks Dave for a look at what the next century might bring. If you ever want to bring a unit to field day to see how it performs in a high RF environment, I know a couple of folks who would be more than happy to help move the HF log periodic antenna out to Hurricane Hill.

Next up in December are elections for the board. A list of the potential victims is in this month's secretary's report. Also to be approved is the 1996 budget published on page 3. If all goes well, Field day T-shirts will be available to those who indicated interest at the November meeting. On deck for the January meeting is the traditional project night.

As always, I look forward to seeing you all at the next meeting. If you have an idea for a future meeting topic, let my successor know, cause I am outta here!
