Pride Night A Success!
On Saturday, September 11 the Nashua
Pride baseball club split games with the
Somerset Patriots, and NARC was there to
lend support (and our lungs!). Due to a
rainout the prior night, we were witness to a
double-header, running late into the evening.
We also enjoyed lively entertainment by the
“Blues Brothers Act” and Monkey Boy. A
good time was had by all, and hopefully we
will be able to do this again next year .
Upcoming Activities
Star Party
A reminder of our upcoming stargazing
activity, on Thursday, October 21 from 7:00
P.M. to 10:00 P.M. The “Star Party” will
feature viewing with a 17” Dobsonian
telescope. The planets Jupiter and Saturn
will be visible. In case of cloudy weather,
the star party will be postponed until
Thursday, October 28. Because of the timely
demise of the Hollis Hilton, the star party
will move this year to the Amateur
Telescope Makers of Boston (ATMoB)
clubhouse in Westford, Mass. The clubhouse
is on the grounds of the MIT Haystack
observatory which features the “walk in”
power supply that the radio club visited
previously. Although a tour of Haystack will
not be available, the clubhouse will be open
with demonstrations of mirror making.
To reach the ATMoB clubhouse, drive down
Rte 3 to the Rte 40 exit (Exit 33). Go
Westbound for about 6 miles until you see
the MIT sign shortly after you enter the
town of Groton. Turn right and proceed ½
mile up the access road. The ATMoB
clubhouse is the white farmhouse on the left.
The ATM’s favorite local pizza is from the
Forge Village Pizza a few miles away; stay
tuned for announcements from the Pizza
Queen as we get closer to that date.
Christmas (et al) Party
This year’s traditional NARC Christmastime
party will be a mix of some things old and
some things new. Early preparations are
under way for the annual bash, scheduled for
Saturday, December 4th at the Horse Pond
Fish and Game Club. There’ll be lots of
FOOD, gifts, music, dancing (if you dare),
FOOD, door prizes, fun, FOOD, Yankee
Swap, and by the way did I mention FOOD.
Stay tuned to future bulletins for details of
what to bring, etc. We’ll also probably be
looking for volunteers, as soon as we sort
out what’s needed this year. And YES, as
always, children are absolutely WELCOME!
