NARC's own Song and

Dance man of Programs

“Every Amateur’s Passion”

Have you ever had this frustrating experience? You have tried to put up a 5 band parallel dipole in 50 MPH wind and rain (because if you put it up in fair weather conditions, it will not stay up in the next storm). After numerous attempts the !@#$% thing will not match! Yes sir, I’m talking about antennas, those complicated and essential transducers that all hams appreciate and love to put up. Stay tuned because help is on the way. Joe Riesert, W1JR, an expert RF antenna designer, will attempt to enlighten the antenna mystified by sharing his expertise at next month’s meeting. Joe originally worked for Cushcraft and then struck out on his own to form the successful company Antennaco. Astron Antenna Corp. acquired his industry respected business last November. Joe remains a consultant and now has time to concentrate purely on design. Be sure to attend this meeting to learn more about antennas.

Thanks to those who checked into last month’s meeting. Everyone who attended should be able to decipher the title of last month’s programs column. You are correct by guessing: “Calling the NARC net from W1GRY, good evening and please zero beat on my signal.” “Calling the NARC CW net any check ins with traffic.” A special thanks to Jim Belanger for showing us a multi- media presentation on ARRL NTS messaging. Jim demonstrated via an overhead and an audio tape an actual CW message passing through several NTS nets. Jim urges everyone to check into the NH & VT CW net on 3.539 MHz or 3.945 for the Granite state phone net.

Remember, your favorite topics can be next month’s program!! Come visit with us and everyone bring some ideas along for new programs. You may talk with me after the meeting, on the air, or via email. Hope to hear from you soon.

You don’t have to be a member of the club to share in the fun. Join us 7 o’clock sharp at the Nashua Public Library for this month’s meeting of the Nashua Area Radio Club.

See you at the meeting! de Gary, W1GRY
