Novice/Tech Class Help Wanted
The Nashua Area Radio Club is sponsoring
a Novice and Technician Course for those
individuals wishing to upgrade or pursue
their Amateur License. The course will be
held on Tuesdays, 7:00 to 9:00 PM, from
September 22nd to December 15th at the
Chandler Branch Library, 257 Main St.,
Nashua. There will be an exam session in
Nashua, Saturday, December 12th at 9 AM.
I would like to get some volunteers to do 10-
15 minute demonstrations on various topics
in Ham Radio. Such topics might be:
- Your first QSO
- HF operation
- VHF & repeaters
- Satellite operation
- DX-ing, Contesting
- QSL’ing
- Antennas
- Home-brewing
- Emergency preparedness-public service
- Packet Radio - digital modes
I’m open to suggestions for other topics too.
Although the class has started, there may
still be an opening or two. The preferred
way to register is by email to
wmueller@inr.net. Please include your
name, phone number, and email address.
You can also register at the club's web site at
http://www.n1fd.org/training.html.
The required text is “Now You’re Talking”,
3rd edition, by the ARRL. If you're
interested in learning Morse code, you will
also need “Your Introduction to Morse
Code”, a cassette tape by the ARRL. The
text and cassette tape are available for
students through the club (at cost, courtesy
of HRO in Salem) for $11.00 and $6.00.
