On a motion by Ed, K2TE, seconded by Jack, WB4MDC, the secretary’s report was accepted as published.
The treasurer, George, WA1DEI was absent so there was no treasurer’s report.
Ed, K2TE, membership coordinator, reported there were 127 members.
There was no activities report due to the absence of Brooks, KC1PD, activities coordinator.
President of vice and training coordinator, Bob, KD1AW, reported the Novice/Tech class had ended and there were at least two new hams to come out of the class. He reported there were no plans for any additional classes until spring.
Programs coordinator, Jack, WB4MDC, reported that January would be elections and awards night as a result of the cancellation of the December club meeting. February will be Project Night and March will feature Brooks, KC1PD, on the future of magnetic media storage. Don, KA1GOZ, reported the Nashua Area Emergency Net was being revived on Tuesday evenings at 8 p.m.
Under old business, president John reported he has seen the UPS storage trailer and the arrangements have to be made to haul it to its storage location. Don, KA1GOZ, reported a location for the trailer has been arranged at the Nashua Wastewater Treatment Plant on Sawmill Road. The 1998 Field Day site appears to be the same as 1997. There was discussion about appointing a Field Day site search committee, which will be referred to the FD stuckee and Incident Commander, Fletch, N1MEO.
The question of participating in GOTAP, which was tabled at a previous meeting was not taken for the table and will be addressed by the new board.
The auction of the to items donated to the club, a noise bridge and “bug” has only elicited two bids. More will be sought at the January club meeting.
On a motion by Bob, KD1AW, seconded by Don, KA1GOZ, the meeting was adjourned.
The Classie Junque drawing winners included the following: N1ZYY, WB4MDC, KB1SO, N1ZYZ, K3CEB, W1JOF, N1XEM, W1GRY, WW1Y, KA1GOZ, KA1CRN, N1ZZG, KC1PD, KD1MD, W1MBG, N1SUE, K31E, KA1LDF, N1ZBS, W1DZZ AND NE1V.
Election of officers was the next order of business. On a motion by Frank, N1DGQ, seconded by Al, W1JOF, all those running unopposed should be elected unanimously by acclamation. The motion carried with one opposed. On a motion by Rich, W1HZN, seconded by Jim, WW1Y, the motion was amended to replace the word unanimously with the words “by a majority.” The motion carried.
In the only contested election, treasurer, George, WA1DEI, received 25 votes and Ron, NU1U, received six votes and George was declared duly elected. There was one write-in for secretary.
Following elections was the presentation of awards.
At the conclusion of the awards presentation, Bob, KD1AW, began the regular business meeting by calling for the approval of the minutes as printed in the bulletin. Jim, WW1Y made the motion, seconded by Pauline, KA1LDF. The motion carried.
Treasurer George, WA1DEI, reported the club balance stood at $1,997.54 in November and $2,116.56 in December. On a motion by Jim, WW1Y, seconded by Mike, NE1V, the report was accepted as read. Membership coordinator Ed, K2TE, reported that there were 128 members in the 142 records.
Under training, Bob, KD1AW, reported that at least four new hams received licenses following the club-sponsored Novice/Technician class. He said a CW training session is in the works to be run by Mike, NE1V, likely to begin the first week in February on the 147.045 two meter repeater.
Programs coordinator, Jack, WB4MDC, reported the schedule of programs for the next few months has slipped one month as a result of the cancellation of the December club meeting. Project Night has been moved to the February meeting and the future of magnetic storage media with Brooks, KC1PD, is now set for March.
Former Activities coordinator Brooks, KC1PD, reported the club had a successful Christmas party and there was no snow, ice or man-made lightning. He also displayed the new Field Day T-shirts proclaiming the club’s third consecutive first place overall finish in Field Day, 1997.
Under old business, Bob asked about the Field Day equipment storage. The trailer is ready to be moved and a site secured. All that remains is to make arrangements for the move, which NE1V will handle.
Treasurer George, WA1DEI, presented the 1998 club budget, and on a motion by Pauline, KA1LDF, seconded by Mike, NE1V, the budget as presented in the December bulletin was approved as published. The motion carried.
ARRL NH Section Manager Al, N1FIK, presented the club with a “Never Failed Day” award in recognition of the club’s poor showing in his Section Field Day Award scoring. In other business, Jim, WW1Y, announced a VE session was set for Nashua at The First Church on Feb. 28.
