Minutes from the March 34th Executive
Board meeting and the April 7th Club Meeting

March 34th Bored meeting

President John, WS1E, called the March Bored of Directors meeting to order on April 3 at 7:45 PM. The meeting was postponed for three days as a result of the “blizzard.”

Treasurer George, WA1DEI, moved the minutes of the previous meeting be accepted as published in the NARC bulletin, seconded by Jack, WB4MDC. Motion carried.

Treasurer George reported a club balance of $2,598. Secretary Don, KA1GOZ, moved and Brooks, KC1PD, seconded a motion to accept the treasurer’s report as presented.

Ed, K2TE, membership coordinator, reported 137 members, 19 expired with a total of 112 active members.

Brooks, KC1PD, activities coordinator, reported on a planned comet party April 12 at the Field Day site at 7 PM. He is also working on a tour of the WMUR-TV studios.

President John commented on the code practice that had been run by Chris, K1SI, noting that we should consider continuing it.

Jack, WB4MDC, program coordinator, reported the April program would be silicon crystal growing, presented by Mike, NE1V. That is to be followed in May by Brooks, KC1PD, who will discuss disc drive technology. June will be about Field Day.

The first meeting of the Field Day committee was set for April 8 at the Chandler Memorial Library and Ethnic Center at 7 PM.

Under old business, president John noted there has been no progress in the FCC’s updating of the RF safety rules and its planned implementation.

Don, KA1GOZ, Emergency Coordinator (EC) for Eastern Hillsborough county, noted that he still needs operators for the March of Dimes WalkAmerica set for April 27.

Under new business Ed brought up the recent proposed FCC rules changes for amateur radio. President John said it would be discussed at the club meeting.

On a motion by Don, seconded by Jack, the meeting was adjourned at 8:10 PM.

April 7th Club meeting

President of vice, Bob, KD1AW, called the April meeting of the Nashua Area Radio Club to order with the drawing of the (NEVER) on time Classie Junque. Among the winners and losers were: Pauline, KA1LDF; Larry, KA1CRN; Mike, NE1V; Bill, N1VPA; Bob Grant; Bill, KA1NDR; Jim, WW1Y; Ray, KB1SO; Russ, N1XEM; Ken, WA1DXO; Brooks, KC1PD; Ken, KE1GI; Bob, K1VA; George, WA1DEI; and Don, N1UBD.

Program coordinator Jack, WB4MDC, introduced the featured speaker for the evening, Mike Graham, NE1V, who presented a program on growing silicon crystals for the semiconductor industry.

Following the presentation, president of vice Bob called the business meeting to order. Mary Jane, W14WIJ moved that the secretary’s report of the previous meeting be accepted as published in the bulletin. Seconded by Pauline, KA1LDF. The motion carried because Gene, K1NR, ex-WA1UXA, was not here.

Treasurer George, WA1DEI, reported that the club balance stood at $2,598.92. On a motion by Mary Jane, seconded by Don, N1UBD, the treasurer’s report was accepted as presented.

Membership coordinator Ed, K2TE, reported there were 112 active members, which was up from last month. He also reported there were eight renewals of membership. On a motion by Jim, WW1Y, seconded by WA4WIJ, the report was accepted as presented.

With the early departure of program coordinator Brooks, KC1PD, Henry, K1CII, announced a comet party was scheduled for April 12 at the Field Day site (weather permitting!)

Mike, NE1V, chairman of the Technical Resources Committee, reported the committee now consists of three members, himself, Jack, WB4MDC, and Rich, W1HZN. The committee has also been asked to develop an 80-meter antenna by Jim, N1NH. Mike also asked for volunteers to help put up a long wire antenna for an elderly Nashua man.

Program coordinator Jack, WB4MDC, announced the May program would be a discussion of data storage-disc technology, by Brooks, KC1PD.

Don, KA1GOZ, EC for E-Hillsborough County, asked for additional volunteer operators for the March of Dimes WalkAmerica set for April 27.

Jim, WW1Y, VE liaison for the club, reported the next exam session was scheduled for Salem. That will be followed by a session at the Hosstraders flea market in May. The next Nashua session will be June 14th.

Fletch, N1MEO, Field Day Incident Commander and stuckee, announced the next Field Day meeting would be held Tuesday at the Chandler Memorial Library and Ethnic Center at 7 PM.

Under old business, president of vice Bob reported on the need to find storage space for the club’s equipment at the conclusion of this year’s Field Day. Mike, NE1V, volunteered to store it if members would help build a storage shed. He also needed to know the volume of the material to be stored.

Bob also noted that the code practice that had been conducted on the repeater on Wednesday evenings had been suspended since the person doing the practice had moved out of the area. A volunteer to continue the sessions was needed.

Following a discussion about Field Day 1995 T-shirt availability, a motion to adjourn was voiced by numerous members, seconded by even more members and was carried.
