Treasurer George, WA1DEI reported a balance of $1,922.45. On a motion by Don, KA1GOZ, seconded by Chris, K1SI, the treasurer’s report was accepted as read. Membership coordinator Ed, K2TE was absent and there was no membership report. Chris, K1SI, activities coordinator, reported he was continuing to run the CW practice on the 045 repeater.
Jack, WB4MDC reported he had no program set for the March meeting, but was interested in getting someone from PSNH to discuss proper generator installation as well as the power system. Don, KA1GOZ, was to contact PSNH to set up a speaker.
Jack brought up the question of storage for Field Day equipment. A proposal to rent a 10 x 10 x 20 storage unit for $75/month or $500/year, was made, however the bored generally felt that was too expensive.
Several bored members will investigate alternate storage sites. Input from any other club members who may have suggestions would also be considered. John called for the posting of an attendance sheet at future club meetings in order to meet requirements of the ARRL contest rules concerning attendance at club meetings.
Jack moved to adjourn, seconded by Chris.
The February meeting of the Nashua Area Radio Club was opened by president John, WS1E, with the announcement there would be no Classie Junque drawing this month. Introductions of those present followed. Program coordinator Jack, WB4MDC, introduced Ralph, KD1SM, and Stan, KD1LE, who presented a program on APRS, Automatic Packet Reporting System.
Following the program, president John opened the business meeting by calling for the treasurer’s report. Secretary Don, KA1GOZ, in the absence of the treasurer, George, WA1DEI, read the prepared report. On a motion by Mary Jane, WA4WIJ, seconded by Jim, WW1Y, the report was accepted. Dave, N1FCC, was opposed.
Membership coordinator Ed, K2TE, reported that as of Jan. 9 there were 117 members, 89 active.
Chris, K1SI, announced that next Monday evening, HRO would be open to club members to hear a presentation by ICOM on a new transceiver. Jack announced the planned program for March was a presentation by PSNH on generators.
Jim, WW1Y, club VE test coordinator announced the next exam session sponsored by the club was set for March 1 at the First Church at 0900.
John reported that the club’s new callsign, N1FD was used the past weekend in the NH QSO Party on RTTY. He also noted the little LEO issue was still alive and members should continue to monitor developments.
John also discussed the Field Day storage issue, reporting on the offer of a storage unit for $500 a year, noting he felt it was too expensive for the club to consider. He also mentioned ARRL Bulletin 005, which outlines proposed changes in the Amateur Radio Service licensing and testing structure. Members should read the entire bulletin before forming any opinions and should forward any comments to ARRL HQ.
On a motion by Don, KA1T, seconded by John, KA1HOV, the meeting was adjourned. Dave, N1FCC was opposed.
