Minutes from the December 30th Executive
Board meeting and the January 6th Club Meeting

December 30th Bored meeting

President John, WS1E, called the December meeting of the Nashua Area Radio bored of directors to order at 7:46PM.

The secretary’s report of the previous meeting was read by secretary Don, KA1GOZ. On a motion by Fletch, N1MEO, seconded by Henry, K1CII, the report was accepted as read.

Treasurer George, WA1DEI, reported the club balance was $1,292.20. On motion by Don, KA1GOZ, seconded by Henry, K1CII, the treasurer’s report was accepted as read.

Henry, K1CII, outgoing membership coordinator, reported there 101 club members and there had been three renewals this month.

Chris, K1SI, nee KA1SIE, incoming activities coordinator, announced he was beginning code practice on Wednesday nights on the 147.045 repeater.

John, WS1E, announced that the possible sale of club-owned radio equipment has become a dead issue. After assembling data it was determined that the existing equipment would not net enough money to allow the purchase of a new transceiver.

John also announced that the FCC had delayed implementation of the RF Safety Rules for amateurs.

President John proposed the establishment of a technical resources committee to deal with technical issues club members might have. He named Mike Graham, NE1V, as its chairman. The appointment was approved on a motion by Henry, seconded by Fletch.

Fletch, Field Day Incident Commander for 1997, asked what callsign would be used for Field Day this year. No decision has been made.

Bob, KD1AW, noted that while the Field Day site is secure for this year, the question of storage of the antennas, towers, etc., would have to be addressed.

On a motion by Don, seconded by Gene, K1NR, nee WA1UXA, the meeting was adjourned.

January 6th Club meeting

The January meeting of the Nashua Area Radio Club got under way with the traditional Classie Junque drawing. Among the winners (?) were: Greg, KE1E; Pauline, KA1LDF; Fletch, N1MEO; Pam, N1KOP; Bill, KA1NDR; Jim, WW1Y; Jan, N1LBA; Mike, NE1V; George, WA1DEI; Dave, N1XOT; Al, W1JOF; Ken, WA1DXO and Dave, N1SUE.

Following introductions, Jack, WB4MDC, introduced the evening’s program, Project Night.

Among the projects were: a motorcycle- mobile microphone from Al, W1JOF; WW1Y’s “antenna window” as well as a giant rubberband paddle ball; Rich, W1HZN’s 40 meter NMO mount antenna system; Bill, KA1NDR’s shield HT and a QRP transceiver for 10 meters; Chris, K1SI’s T-shirts; Bob, KD1AW’s low noise amplifier with a ¼ wave matching section and T/R relay and sequencer; Harry, WA1VVH’s 2.4G repeater receiver with band pass filters; a 1.296 MHz 90 amplifier and a 2.4G transmitter up-converter.

Following the program, Jack announced the February program would be APRS, Automated Packet Reporting System.

President John opened the business meeting. Treasurer George, WA1DEI reported a balance of $1,848.18.

Henry, K1CII, reporting for Ed, K2TE, reported there were 101 club members.

Chris, K1SI, activities coordinator announced several possible activities being considered for this year including: a fox hunt, canoe trip, ARRL HQ trip; a tour of the FAA’s ARTCC; a road rally; and Field Day. He also announced the code practice sessions to be held on the 147.045 repeater on Wednesday evenings.

Chris also reported that the antennas loaned to the club for Field Day 1996 by HyGain had been sold and the moneys were donated by the antenna manufacturer to the club.

President John, WS1E, noted the NH QSO Party was scheduled for Feb. 1-2 and he was planning to have a club station represented using the N1FD callsign. He also announced the formation of the Technical Resources Committee and the appointment of Mike, NE1V, as its chair.

Don, KA1GOZ, announced the March of Dimes Walk America date for 1997 has been set. It will be April 27, with details to be announced later.

Jim, WW1Y, announced an upcoming VE exam session in Salem.
