Jamboree On The Air

On October 19-20th scouts from around the world team up with hams for the annual Jamboree on the Air (JOTA). In 1995 about half a million scouts in 112 countries participated. It is a lot of fun and a great way to introduce youngsters to ham radio.

A group of local Cub Scouts (Grades 2-5) toured the NARC Field Day site in June and were quite excited over all the goings on. Several of the boys would love to get some “hands on” experience at the mike. Working with Cub Scout Pack 253 in Nashua Jim Mahoney, N1LBC is looking for one or more local hams to sponsor interested boys in participating during this year’s JOTA. The commitment need not be significant—a few hours at most at a time that was convenient during the JOTA weekend.

If you are interested and available, contact Jim Mahoney, N1LBC. He can be reached via email at JimMahoney@aol.com. He is especially looking for an interested amateur with HF privileges.
