Don, KA1GOZ, and Fletch, N1MEO, moved to accept the secretary’s report as published in the April newsletter. The motion carried.
Treasurer George, WA1DEI, reported a club balance of $1,180.33. A motion was made by Don, seconded by Gene, WA1UXA, to accept the treasurer’s report as presented. The motion carried.
Fletch, president of vice, and coordinator of training, reported that Mike, NE1V, would teach a no-code technician class at a date to be determined.
President John announced that the status of Stu, N1STY, membership coordinator, was in question and that Stu had unofficially resigned the post.
Jim, WW1Y, newsletter editor/publisher, agreed to maintain the club data-base since that made getting address labels for the newsletter easier. He also reiterated that data for the newsletter was not making the posted deadline and asked those submitting copy get it to him by deadline.
John announced that New England Division Director and former NARC president, Bill Burden, WB1BRE, had been hospitalized. A card from the club would be sent.
There being no further business, Don moved to adjourn. Gene seconded and the motion carried.
Program for the evening was Project Night. Rich, W1HZN, described a BNC connector soldering stand he devised for soldering the connectors to coax. He also described a battery charger he constructed for the golf cart repeater batteries.
Dave, KA1DT, described the construction of a high-voltage power supply he constructed originally for EME experimentation.
Jack, WB4MDC, showed illustrations of the ground system he installed for a 160 meter folded monopole.
Don Grant, N1UBD, demonstrated his handy-dandy tower Christmas light kit, complete with illustration, carrying case, and extension cord.
Mary Jane, WA4WIJ and Colleen(e), N1HAJ, displayed quilt work they had done.
Julie Grant, with the help of dad, explained the construction of a sock snowman made for Christmas.
John, WS1E briefly described one of the latest additions to his tower, but declined to bring it in to show. (Ed note: John brought neither the tower, nor the 2 element vertical antenna for 80 meters that he described.)
Following the program, president John, WS1E, called the business meeting to order. Jim, WW1Y moved, and Steve, N1LHW seconded a motion to accept the secretary’s report as published in the newsletter. The motion carried.
George, WA1DEI gave the treasurer’s report, showing a balance as of the end of March of $1,276.35. Mary Jane, WA4WIJ moved and Rex, K1HI, seconded a motion to accept the treasurer’s report as read.
President John announced that Stu, N1STY, membership person, had resigned his position on the bored of directors. Colleen(e) gave the membership report. There were three renewals and one ARRL membership.
The resignation of N1STY prompted president John to call for a special election to fill the vacancy as required by the by- laws.
He noted that Henry, K1CII, had volunteered to fill the post for the remainder of the year. He then opened nominations. Jim, WW1Y, nominated K1CII, seconded by Mary Jane. Don, KA1GOZ, moved nominations be closed. A second was heard, but not recorded. The motion carried with Henry, K1CII, opposed. Don, KA1GOZ, moved to direct the secretary to cast one ballot for the nominee. Pauline, KA1LDF, seconded. The motion carried with Henry, K1CII, opposed. The secretary cast one ballot for Henry, K1CII, as bored member for membership.
President of vice, Fletch, N1MEO, in his training report noted that the club slow speed CW training net was continuing to meet Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. on or about 28.4 MHz. He said four students have signed up for a no-code technician course to be taught by Mike, NE1V at the Chandler Memorial Library and Ethnic Center at a date yet to be determined.
Don, KA1GOZ, reported on a number of ham radio flea markets that were upcoming in the next month or so in Maine, Massachusetts, and New York. He also asked for volunteers to work on the March of Dimes Walk-America walk-a-thon on April 28. He also reported planning was underway to providing communications support for the Olympic Torch Run, scheduled to arrive in Nashua on June 14.
He also reported that the National Weather Service’s Taunton, Mass., office, which is responsible for forecast and warning in Hillsborough and Cheshire Counties in New Hampshire, has tentatively scheduled a SKYWARN training program for April 25 at the Daniel Webster College.
Fletch, N1MEO, reported that Al, WA1TYB, has scheduled planning meetings at the Chandler Library and Ethnic Center for April 9, and 23; May 7, June 3 and June 18. All are at NARC time (1900 hrs).
