Field Day RF Filters Completed

Picture of K1CII assembling filters

This year's combination capital equipment purchase/club project has completed. These are the multi-band HF RF filters described in the article "Inexpensive Interference Filters", by Alan Bloom, N1AL. This article appeared in the June 1994 issue of QST.

Many thanks to all those who helped in getting this project completed. Much time and energy was expended in order to meet the Field Day deadline. All the filters were delivered to Al., WA1TYB, at a Thursday Night Pizza in early June.

There were many steps in the creation of these filters. There was coil winding, scraping and tinning, soldering, hole drilling and lots more ending with the final assembly and checking.

A coil winding session was held on April 30th with the following volunteers in attendance: Henry, K1CII (to whom I owe big time); Mary Jane, WA4WIJ; Jack, WB4MDC; Jim, WW1Y; Fletch, N1MEO; Jim, N1NYG; Frank, N1DGQ; Linda, N1USL; Stu, N1STY; Trish, N1LOI; Charlie, WB2FSK with Phoebe; and yours truly Me, KA1LDF.

Thanks also goes out to Bob, KD1AW for drilling all the holes in the boxes; to Jim, WW1Y for ordering all the parts required; to John, WS1E for the use of his filter as a guide and for procuring the PC Boards and to Jack, WB4MDC for the use of his soldering pot and supplying the coax jumper cables; to Trish, N1LOI for soldering on the capacitors and the wound coils to the PC Boards; and a debt of gratitude to Henry, K1CII for the final assembly of soldering the jumper wires from the switches to the coils and for the labels.

Many thanks from Me to All of You for assisting me.

`73's Pauline, KA1LDF
