Members of the Nashua Area Radio Club have supported the AMSAT Phase 3D Satellite effort in many ways. The most impressive (ok, maybe not impressive, but certainly nifty) ways has been the manufacture of parts that will actually become part of the Satellite.
Bob, Fyfe, KD1AW, donated his time and his machine shop resources to help construct the mounting assembly for the Earth sensor. The parts were hand delivered to the AMSAT Satellite facility in Orlando, Florida in October 1995 by Jim Heedles, WW1Y. The Earth Sensor is the device responsible for keeping the satellite accurately centered on our pale blue dot. Without it, the satellite will drift and rotate resulting in the antennas not pointing at us!
